About GreenShield

GreenShield Home & Pest Solutions runs two offices, one at 11109 Old Telegraph Road in Ashland and one at 11 S 12th St in downtown Richmond. Both keep weekday hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The state pesticide license is held by KBAT LLC, trading as GreenShield, at the Ashland address. The site says the company has worked in the Richmond area since 2008, and BBB shows a February 2008 start and accreditation since 2009.

The team page lists 19 people: a director of operations, an account manager and a service manager, two office staff, a service supervisor, eight pest management professionals and a three-person mitigation crew. The site claims more than 10,000 homes served. Its service-area list runs to 118 ZIP codes across Central Virginia, the Petersburg area and Hampton Roads.

The site sells monthly plans and prints the prices. Basic, at $42.50 a month, covers common household pests with exterior treatments. The $82.50 Select plan adds interior treatments, mosquito control and termite protection. The $99 Premium plan adds rodent control and snake protection. In October 2026 the site also offered new clients $100 off recurring service. Every plan starts with a free inspection of the exterior, interior, attic and crawlspace.

The guarantee has specific terms. If pests return between scheduled visits, the company comes back at no charge. Its FAQ page says that if two follow-up visits don't fix the problem, you get your money back. BBB records the policy more narrowly: for the General Service Plan, after two free retreats for the same pest in one service period, the company credits 100% of your last service payment.

GreenShield also sells building work tied to pests and damp. Its moisture mitigation service installs crawlspace vapor barriers, Aprilaire dehumidifiers, the DryShield system and temperature-activated vents. Its insulation service puts down R-19 floor insulation in crawlspaces and T.A.P. blow-in cellulose in attics. A 2023 PCT Online profile quotes Director of Operations Jacob Orr on the company's treatments, which he says use oils and scents mixed with eco-friendly chemicals in place of standard pesticides.

How to hire a licensed pest control company in Virginia

  • No one may apply pesticides commercially in Virginia without a pesticide business license from VDACS and a certified commercial applicator responsible for the work.[8]
  • The license is annual and covers one location. Each office that applies or recommends pesticides needs its own.[8]
  • The person spraying your house must be a certified commercial applicator or a registered technician, or be training under one's supervision.[9]
  • Match the certification category to the job. 7-A is general household and structural pests, 7-B is wood-destroying pests, and 8 is pests of medical and public health significance.[10]
  • VDACS publishes a report of every licensed pesticide business, so you can confirm a company before the first visit.[11]
